Laser is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emitted Radiation (L.A.S.E.R)

In 1917, Albert Einstein established the theoretical foundations for the laser. However the 1st real laser was operated on May 16, 1960, Theodore H. Maimann at Hughes Research Laboratories, Malibu, California.

Lasers come in different classes and have many different uses.

The lowest Class 2: 0 to 1mw (mw = milliwatt)

Then Class 3R: 1 to 5mw

Followed by Class 3B: 5 to 500mw

Class 4: in excess of 500mw

They can be dangerous if used incorrectly. Only a trained professional should use a laser.

Normally for show purposes gas or diode laser is used and combined with powerful programming software such as Pangolin.

Lasers come in 3 primary colors, name Red, Green or Blue (called RGB) and if you mix the 3 colors in different levels, you can obtain virtually any color. Full 100% Red, Green and Blue creates whitelight.

Laser is a Unique Light

It is a unique light. It has infinite focus and can create flat scans, Lissajous, beams or event text and graphics.

A Coherent fine beam makes it unique. Normal light sources such as a light bulb create scattered energy.  A 30 watt light bulb actually has more light power, but losses it’s energy because the light travel in all directions.

In the 1970’s lasers went global in the form of barcode scanners in supermarkets. Now we see virtually everywhere from medical uses to weaponry, to printing and as we use then in the entertainment industry.

Their use in the early 1970’s in entertainment really started with the early rock bands such as The Who, Yes, Pink Floyd and The Electric Light Orchestra to name a few.

The 1st registered professional laser company in The Philippines was Argon Animation Inc.  We started in August 2001 and we use both gas lasers and diode lasers
